According to Sahara Reporters,
the hoodlums were thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) working under the
orders of Governor Olusegun Mimiko. One of the
vehicles of the Deputy Governor was stoned and fired upon with guns, while the
windscreen was also attacked during the process.
“They shot the convoy of
Baba [Alhaji Ali Olanusi)] at the Fiwaseye roundabout and broke the windscreen
of one of his vehicle,” an eyewitness told Sahara
Reportrs.
“Immediately they shot at
the convoy as they entered into the Secretariat of the PDP after our own
security details tried to shoot at them,” a security aide told Sahara
Reporters.
The Deputy Governor who spoke to
Sahara Reporters explained how he was targeted by the thugs, and how he
managed to escape with his life.
Ali Olanusi, who defected
from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC)
described the governor of the state, Olusegun Mimiko as a “dictator” and
“emperor” who always
wants to be in charge of almost everything in the state.
