Formal NDDC Boss Warns Jonathan, Mimiko To Avoid Repeat Of 1983 Crisis In Ondo

As the crisis rocking the Ondo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) persists, President Goodluck Jonathan and the State Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko have been cautioned against any act that can bring about the repeat of 1983 political crisis in the
state.
A PDP chieftain and former Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Commissioner in the state, gave the warning in Akure at the weekend while addressing reporters on his planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Enikuomehin alleged that Governor Mimiko and some National leaders of the PDP were planning to repeat political war of 1983 in the state by frustrating and intimidating party leaders and aspirants who had invested heavily to actualize their political ambitions come 2015 in order to pave the way for his loyalists.
He stated that the party State and National Assembly screening committee that anchored the screening exercise in Ondo State acted the script of the state governor by screening out old PDP aspirants and cleared only Labour Party aspirants that defected to PDP recently. Enikuomehin blamed the crisis rocking the PDP in the state on greed and insincerity of the National Working Committee members of the party.
Enikuomehin, who is a House of Representative Aspirant in PDP also berated the screening committee for absconding and leaving their job unfinished. The former NDDC boss said himself and over five thousand PDP leaders in the state were planning to defect to APC as a way of protesting the injustice meted on them by the leadership of the party in Abuja.
He stressed that the committee members should have lived above board and provided a level playing ground for all the aspirants to participate in the party’s primary rather than being partisan. He said the deliberate efforts of the leadership of PDP to frustrate old members of the party in the state and please Governor Mimiko and his cohorts had put the party in disarray.
He affirmed that the crisis caused by the action of the committee members and governor Mimiko’s desperation to dominate the party will spell doom for the party at the poll. He said the people of the state should blame Governor Mimiko and the National Working Committee of PDP for any political crisis that might erupt in the state.
He described the crisis as a doom looming in the head of PDP in Ondo State, adding that President Goodluck Jonathan will be the major casualty of the scenario if the crisis continues unabated.

“The leadership of PDP in Abuja have deviated from the tradition and constitution of the party. They have allowed the interest of an individual to override the collective interest of the party in the state. Mimiko and his cohorts have money to squander but we have the masses on our side. With this we have decidedto protest he injustice meted on us by moving en masse to APC and teach President Goopdluck Jonathan a lesson he will never forget”, Enikuomehin said.
