Gunmen Rob Million-Naira Bullion Van

A high-tension armed robbery occurred in Ondo state, during which some dare-devil armed robbers ambushed and disarmed policemen escorting a bullion van and made away with a large sum of money.

According to Vanguard, this happened at about 4pm at Elemoso village in Ondo East Council of Ondo State.

The driver was seriously injured in the attack but the policemen, who fled into a bush when the attack began are yet to be found.

Villagers say they feared that 'Boko Haram had arrived' when they heard the attack.

The State Police Commissioner says he suspects conspiracy in the incident. Mr. Isaac Eke said “the information is still sketchy. We are trying to establish some things because the policemen that escorted the bullion were not booked with the operation unit. This shows that they are on illegal duties.

“The driver of the vehicle has come out of the bush and we are interrogating him. We suspect conspiracy in this matter.

“Our men are still chasing them and I want to assure members of the public that we will apprehend them.”
