Netherlands and Bayern Munich player Arjen Robben has slammed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for tagging him a
diver in the second leg of their Champions Leaguegame on Tuesday.
Robben said that
the Gunners manager should stop behaving like a small-time manager after both
teams played out...........
a 1-1 on Tuesday.
Wenger had an
argument on the touchline after Arsenal's goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent
off for fouling Robben in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium last month, and
the Frenchman was further enraged when the Dutchman went down under pressure
from Laurent Koscielny in the box to win a spot-kick which Thomas Muller
subsequently missed.
After the match,
which ended in a 1-1 draw with Bayern triumphing 3-1 on aggregate, Wenger
labelled Robben "a great player and a very good diver" - a comment
which the Bayern winger felt was classless.
"I always say
if you're a big manager, take your loss," he told ITV. "If you win, be happy, enjoy. But if you lose, don't
start complaining about silly things. "It was two
penalties but I don't want to defend myself. From a big manager you expect a
little bit more if you lose." Wenger also claimed
that the decision to send off Szczesny was the difference between the two
teams, but Bayern boss Pep Guardiola insisted otherwise.
"We won and we
were better than Arsenal in both games, that is the reality," Guardiola
noted.
