Joe
Brown, the star of the television show has been arrested and charged with five
counts of contempt of court in Tennessee on Monday. Brown, 66, was arrested after he lost his temper while
representing a client in a child custody case in Memphis. “He darn near caused
a riot in the courtroom, he had people so inflamed,” said Dan Michael,
chief magistrate of the...............
Shelby County Juvenile Court.
Brown was “yelling and repeatedly challenging the
judge’s authority and even addressing his comments to a crowd of people inside
the courtroom,” according to the AP.
Brown was charged with five counts of contempt of court
and sentenced to five days in jail. However, he was released early on his own
recognizance, the court said Tuesday, meaning he had to promise to appear in
court for all future proceedings.
Brown’s reality court show, Judge Joe Brown, debuted in
1998 and ran in syndication until it was cancelled in 2013. His show was the
second-longest consecutively appearing reality court judge, after Judge Judy.
