Female Boxers Rewarded In Edo

Edo-born female boxers, Edith Ogoke and Oluwatoyin Aladeji, were lauded for their performances at the recently concluded African Boxing Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Ogoke, who fought in the 75 kilogramme category, won a gold medal, while Aladeji who featured in the 51 kilogramme category won a bronze.
 Okoh told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the boxers had brought honour to the state by their exceptional performances at the championship.
He said the state was proud of them and described them as worthy ambassadors of Edo, pointing out that if adequately encouraged, they would perform better in future engagements. 
He urged the boxers to continue training towards improving their skills as the Edo people expected them to win more medals at other international competitions.
The sports enthusiast later gave the female boxers some cash rewards.
