Ondo By-Election Comes up on April 5

The INEC in Ondo State has fixed April 5 for the by-election in Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency of the state. This is contained in a statement on Friday by Mr Olabimpe Awoniyi, the Public Relations Officer of the commission in the state. the House of Representatives.
 It said that the commission had received official letter, dated Feb. 13, from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Amimu Tambuwal, notifying it of Momiye’s death.
 Olabimpe said that based on the letter, a meeting was arranged to consider the date for the exercise and all other associated activities for the conduct of by-election.
 It stated that a meeting of political parties, witnessed by security agencies, was convened by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr Akin Orebiyi, at Igbokoda.
 Another meeting, it added, was held at Igbekebo in Ese-Odo Local Government, on Feb. 20. “A stakeholders’ meeting was aqlso held at Civic Centre, Igbokoda, on Feb.26.
“After exhaustive deliberation at the meetings, it was resolved and agreed upon that the by-election into the vacant seat of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency should hold on April 5. This was signed by all the political parties on Feb 26," it said. 

So far, only nine political parties have expressed interest to participate in the by-election.
