The police in Ondo State have confirmed the arrest of nine suspects,
said to be members of a cult group and allegedly responsible for the death of
one Sunday Eniola, who was shot dead in Akure, the state capital, last week. The

The state Police Commissioner, Isaac Eke who disclosed this said members
of the cult group specialise in killing and terrorising people in Akure
metropolis.
When the nine suspects were paraded at the command’s headquarters, one
of them, Taiwo Olorunwa who was arrested with a bullet wound on the left leg,
during interrogation, confessed to being a member of the Eiye secret cult. He
confessed that he sustained the bullet wound during an encounter with a rival
cult group which led to the death of Eniola.
In a related development, police detectives in Asaba, Delta State, have
arrested eight secondary school students over their alleged involvement in cult
related activities.
Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu said the suspects,
senior secondary school students of a popular secondary school in Asaba were
said to have been arrested at their initiation hide out at the premises of the
abandoned Asaba Textile Mill on a tip-off.
