AAUA Students Protest Death Of Colleague

Students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State today trooped to the streets to protest the killing of one of their colleagues (name withheld) on Akungba main road by a Toyota Corolla car on sunday night.
The students’ spontaneous reaction was said to have sparked violence over misinformation that the deceased was knocked down by a mini bus called
“agollo” in the local parlance and that the driver ran away.
A statement by the Registrar of the Institution, Bamidele Olotu however said the information had since been refuted by the Police.
According to the statement, the driver reported himself at the Police station, and that he was in their custody with the Toyota Corolla car.
The clarification according to the Registrar has calmed the nerves of the rampaging students and the situation has since been brought under control.
The corpse of the deceased student is said to have been released to the parents and had been buried.
The University expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased, the student body and the entire University community on the unfortunate loss of the promising young man.
The statement urged all students to go about their normal academic activities as peace has now returned to the campus.
